Tips for decorating in your 20s

According to designers, the most important tip for decorators in their 20s is to have fun. They say to keep everything affordable, colorful, and fun. For example, they say to buy bright glasses and funky table linens. They recommend patterned curtains and graphic designs. Other tips for decorators in their 20s include buying staples that will last for years, getting a good chair that’s both comfortable and portable, and to design based on how a room makes you feel.

Tips for decorating in your 30s

The designer claims that there’s one thing everyone in their 30s should buy: A nice piece of art. They say to figure out what your style is and then do some research to find the perfect piece. According to the pros, the two most important things to do in the 30s is to figure out your unique styles and to invest in a high-quality dining set that allows you to easily entertain friends and family.

Tips for decorating in your 40s

In your 40s, the decorators say you can finally embrace luxury. This may mean things like velvet curtains, a leather couch, or a bed that’s as soft as cashmere. Other tips include incorporating mementos from traveling and family heirlooms, and to start considering investing in antiques. Not only are they a good investment, but they add character to a home.

These are interesting tips but they don’t apply to everyone

We like the basic idea of these, that younger folks with less income should focus on one or two good pieces and otherwise shop second hand and find things that are fun, while those who are getting into the family-raising years will have different priorities. That said, we encourage everyone to choose art they like when they like it and if you’re in your 40s and want a bright, bold table that may be considered youthful, then you should do it.
