The key is to know why they’re considered risks and to embrace it.

Use wallpaper in places people wouldn’t expect it

Anyone can wallpaper a wall, or an entire room, but what if you use wallpaper in a unique way? For example, let’s say you have a very small kitchen with virtually every wall covered with cabinets. It may seem impossible to bring your own personality out in that type of kitchen, but what if you wallpapered the ceiling? This would certainly be unexpected and it would be a great way to showcase your own style.

Embrace color

We often tell clients that if you don’t want to redecorate every few years, it’s best to avoid the latest trends – and that includes bold, bright colors that are likely to go out of style within a year or two. However, sometimes this advice just needs to be ignored. Who says you can’t bring in bright purple curtains or paint a wall fire engine red? We say it’s your choice and you should choose colors you love!

Go wild in one spot

If you have a wild streak in you, but you don’t want an apartment that will be overwhelming, then perhaps you can go wild in one spot. Pick one wall in your office to paint your own mural, or take a corner wall in the bathroom and add your own unique style.
