If you’re in the market to buy a home then you already know it can be both exciting and stressful. At Half Price Drapes, we wish that everyone could find their dream home but in most cases that’s simply not a reality – which is why it becomes so important to understand what to overlook and what should be a deal breaker. Here are some of the things that we don’t think should prevent someone from buying a home.

The colors on the walls

If you walk into a room that’s painted a color you don’t like, or that has paint that hasn’t been touched up in decades, it can be hard to see past that to what could be. However, remember that repainting is not just easy but it’s pretty affordable. If you find a home in a great location, that’s appropriately priced, make sure you ask yourself how it would look repainted before you say no to it.

The wallpaper is outdated

These days, you rarely see an interior decorator adding wallpaper, and for good reason. It’s hard to put up, it doesn’t stand the test of time, and it’s expensive. That said, if you walk into a home that’s covered in wallpaper, that’s another flaw you can look past. Yes, we know it looks outdated, but all you have to do is take down the wallpaper and paint it a color you love.

The wrong kitchen cabinets

The kitchen can be one of the most important rooms in the home and you need to have space that works for you and décor you love. While it can be expensive to completely overhaul a kitchen, it doesn’t cost much at all to repaint or refinish some cabinets. Comparatively, it doesn’t cost that much to replace them either.

The window treatments leave a lot to be desired

At Half Price Drapes, we’re well aware of how much the window coverings in a room can affect how a person feels about it. When you tour a home, don’t concentrate on how it looks, think about how it could look with our high-quality silk panels or other beautiful curtains.

The lighting is poor

You can’t easily replace light fixtures and add light bulbs with more or less light, depending on what you need. If you want to add light fixtures, you can generally get that done pretty affordably as well. At Half Price Drapes, we hope you can find a home that’s perfect, but if you can’t, then we hope you’ll find one that could be!
