It seems like 2017 just started yet interior designers are already talking about the best design trends of 2018. At Half Price Drapes, we love the classics but we love to keep up on the latest trends too. Read on to learn about the predictions for 2018 and then check out our classic and new trends for draperies.
Geometric patterns
One thing we love about the prediction of geometric patterns coming into style is the fact that there’s so many different and unique ways to incorporate them into your décor. In fact, we see it as the most approachable of the predicted trends for 2018. Expect to see geometric patterns used in everything from kitchen backsplashes to throw pillows.
A little bit of glitz and glamor
We’re seeing metallics and other shiny colors coming into style now and we expect that this will stick around – and maybe even ramp up – through 2018. You’ll see things like silver dining room tables, uniquely sparkly couches, or metal side tables. There may also be hand-painted elements of existing furniture to create a funk flair.
Color, color, color
Gray and beige are very popular in 2017 but the pros say this is going to swing to the other extreme in 2018. Expect to see bold reds, bright blues, and other strong colors. These bright colors are going to be complemented by much softer colors. For example, you may see bright, bold curtains with sheer panels underneath to soften them up.
Natural wood elements
2018 is going to be the year of natural and DIY projects. Instead of the sleek, stylized furniture, art, and accessories that have been popular for the last few years, more unique products and furniture should be expected. This doesn’t mean you have to run out and take up carpentry. Just pick items that look a little more unique and rugged versus the mass-produced options.
Say it with fringe
At Half Price Drapes, we may be the most excited about fringe. It will be hanging off everything from bedspreads to curtains to tie backs. In a variety of colors, expect this to bring flair and excitement to otherwise dull pieces. Combine this style with others, too – for example, consider adding some metallic fringe to a handmade pillow. This hits several points and could instantly transform your room into a fun and fabulous spot.
