Summers 5 Hottest Kitchen and Bathroom Design Trends

This summer we’re seeing some really interesting trends in both kitchens and designs. At Half Price Drapes, we love keeping an eye on the latest trends – and even more we love sharing them with you! Read on to learn what’s hot and then find your perfect draperies with us.

1. Boldly mixing patterns

For many years, patterns weren’t popular at all. In the last half decade, we’ve seen a lot of interest in patterned draperies but conventional wisdom has still dictated that homeowners choose one pattern. Today, we’re seeing patterns being mixed with other patterns until the kitchen / bathroom is energetic and vibrant. This is not a trend for someone who wants to play it safe but it is an interesting choice for the right person.

2. Blue and green kitchens and bathrooms

As far as colors go, we’re seeing tons of velvety blues and bright, vivid greens. We love these colors, because blue is so timeless that it can fit in with any décor. Blood orange has also been a popular way to add a burst of bright color into a room too.

3. Warming up with softer lights

White has long been a popular color for both kitchens and bathrooms but it’s always had one huge problem: It can feel a bit clinical. One great way to avoid this issue is to use whites that have hints of gold, bronze, or brass to them. You can also choose cabinets, backsplashes, or flooring that softens the bright whites.

4. Keeping it neutral

There’s no question that color is a big hit this summer but even those who are afraid of making a space too busy can stick to bright neutrals. For example, a blush sand or icy blue are incredible refreshing colors that add lovely color, yet they’re still neutral enough to work with almost anything.

5. Cozier bathrooms and kitchens

It’s common for kitchens to be functionally decorated. This means that people end up simply decorating with the use of the room in mind and don’t pay much attention to comfort. While it is of course important to build a bathroom that functions as it should, and the same is true of kitchens, this doesn’t mean you can’t make the room cozy and comfortable. Recent design trends have embraced this fact and have been much more focused on cozy rooms.
