Linen Roman Shades

HPD Linen Roman shades bring authentic natural fiber character to your exact window dimensions — available in relaxed and flat fold with privacy and blackout lining options.

Natural linen has a quality in a Roman shade that's genuinely hard to replicate — the fiber variation in the weave, the way the fabric diffuses light into a warm organic glow when privacy-lined, the relaxed elegance that suits both casual kitchens and formal dining rooms equally well. In a flat Roman format, the natural linen folds cleanly and holds its structure with the weight that genuine fiber provides.

HPD French Linen Roman shades are made from 100% natural linen fiber — with the authentic texture variation, natural weight, and organic character that only real linen produces. Available with privacy lining, lined and interlined, and blackout lining options in custom sizes.

French Linen Roman shades are dry clean only. The natural fiber's weight means the shade folds cleanly and holds its structure beautifully both raised and lowered.

Is the linen in HPD Roman shades genuine natural fiber?

Yes — HPD Linen Roman shades are made from 100% natural French linen fiber with the authentic texture variation, organic weight, and natural character that only real linen produces. The natural fiber creates a particularly warm, diffused light quality when the shade is privacy-lined. Dry clean only to maintain the natural fiber's character.

What style options are available?

All HPD Roman shades are available in both Relaxed and Flat Roman styles. The Relaxed style features soft, casual curves at the bottom when raised — suited to informal fabrics and rooms. The Flat style features crisp, structured horizontal folds — suited to formal rooms and fabrics like velvet and faux silk where drape and sheen are the focus.

How do I measure for a Roman shade?

Roman shades can be ordered for inside or outside mount. Inside mount requires a minimum 2¾" window depth — measure the opening at three points (top, middle, bottom for width; left, centre, right for height) and use the narrowest width and tallest height. HPD makes all necessary deductions in-house. Outside mount: add a minimum of 1½" on each side for width and at least 2–3" above the opening for height. Always measure to the nearest ⅛" using a steel tape measure.

How does the lift mechanism work and is it safe for homes with children?

HPD Roman shades operate with a plastic beaded continuous loop that raises and lowers the shade smoothly through a clutch mechanism. The shade locks at any position. Free-hanging loops pose a strangulation hazard to young children — always secure the loop to the wall using the tension device provided, keep loops out of children's reach, and position furniture away from window coverings. Check that the tension device remains securely fixed to the wall and reinstall if it comes loose.

What rooms and styles suit linen Roman shades?

Linen Roman shades suit kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms where natural fiber quality and a clean, fitted window treatment are both valued. The Roman shade format is particularly practical for kitchens where curtain panels would be impractical. Suits French country, Scandinavian, coastal, farmhouse, and transitional interiors.
