    HPD Roman shades are available in two distinct styles. The Relaxed Roman style features soft, casual curves at the bottom of the shade when raised — the fabric drapes gently rather than folding into crisp horizontal lines. This style suits informal rooms and fabrics where a relaxed, organic look is preferred: linens, cottons, and textured faux linens read particularly well in a relaxed fold. The Casual Roman style features clean, crisp horizontal folds that stack evenly when the shade is raised — a more structured, tailored look suited to formal rooms and fabrics where the drape and sheen are meant to be the focus: velvet, faux silk, and jacquard all show their best character in a casual fold. Both styles are available in all fabrics, lining options, and custom sizes.

    How do I measure for this Roman shade?

    HPD Roman shades can be ordered for inside mount or outside mount installation — each requires a different measuring approach.

    Inside mount installs within the window frame for a clean, streamlined look that shows off window trim and takes up minimal wall space. Your window must have a minimum depth of 2¾" of unobstructed flat surface, and the window must not open inwards or have cranks that would interfere with the shade. Measure the interior width of the window opening at three points — top, middle, and bottom — and use the narrowest measurement. Measure the height at three points — left, centre, and right — and use the tallest measurement. Provide your exact opening dimensions — HPD makes the necessary deductions in-house for proper fit and operation.

    Outside mount installs on the wall or window frame above the opening, providing maximum light blockage and the ability to cover a larger area. Add a minimum of 1½" on each side of the window opening for width (3" total) to reduce light gaps. For height, extend at least 2–3" above the window opening to allow for the 2" wooden mounting board and hardware, and drop to the sill or below as desired. Outside mount dimensions are made to your exact specified size with no factory deductions. Always measure to the nearest ⅛" using a steel tape measure.

    How does the lift mechanism work and is it safe for homes with children?

    HPD Roman shades operate with a plastic beaded continuous loop — a single looped chain that pulls through a clutch mechanism mounted at the head rail to raise and lower the shade smoothly. The continuous loop design allows one-handed operation with consistent, controlled movement in both directions, and the shade locks in position at any height.

    HPD ships within the contiguous United States, including Hawaii. Unfortunately, we do not ship to Alaska, PO Boxes or address with PPO or PRO.

    Delivery time varies depending on the types of items in your order and the selected shipping option. Please refer to our Shipping policy for details.

    - Ready To Ship Curtains, Metal Hardware, Tie-Up Shades & Home Decor:

    Ships Within 2-3 Business Days. Most orders are delivered within 5-8 business days after order purchase.

    - Custom items are handcrafted in our overseas workrooms. Shipping time varies by product type:

    Custom Curtains & Roman Shades are shipped within 2 - 4 weeks days of placing the order.

    These items are delivered within 7-14 business days after shipment. We recommend budgeting in a few more days of delivery time due to global carrier delays during holiday seasons, extreme weather events, etc. Once shipped, you will receive an email with FedEx tracking information. FedEx requires a customer signature as proof of delivery for these orders. Express and Expedited shipping options are not available for Custom items.

    - Wooden Hardware:

    Our wooden hardware is shipped for free within 7-10 business days after placing the order and is delivered within 4-7 business days from shipment date. These products are only shipped via our Economy (Free) option. Express and Expedited shipping options are not available.

    - Swatches:

    Swatches are shipped for free via USPS First Class and are delivered within 5 to 8 business days after shipment. The USPS First Class service currently does not provide a package tracking number. We strive to pack and ship your orders within 1-3 business days. Customers can also pay for urgent shipping with Express (1 Day Delivery) or Expedited (2 Days Delivery) shipping options using FedEx.

    All orders are processed and shipped Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. Orders placed on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays will be processed on the next business day.

    For Urgent Shipping:

    We offer Express - 1 Day Shipping and Expedited - 2 Days Shipping options for Ready Made items and Swatches. Urgent Shipping charges are paid by the customer.

    Urgent shipping orders received before 1pm Eastern Time will be shipped the same day for 1 day delivery (Express Shipping) or 2 days delivery (Expedited Shipping). Orders placed after 1:00 pm Eastern Time will be shipped on the next business day. For example, an order placed at 1:30 pm Eastern Time on Friday afternoon will not ship until the following Monday. Please Note: We currently do not offer urgent shipping for Custom Curtains and Roman Shades, Roller Shades, Wooden Hardware.
